Lady Bird Blogs: Batting Performances from Cricketing History You Could Learn From

Updated: Aug 24, 2021

In this post we visit some of the incredible batting moments in cricketing history from the 1960s to the late 1980s which are a sheer joy to watch and of course to learn from to improve your batting skills.

Sir Garfield Sobers, 1968 In the first video, we witness the incredible 6 sixes in an over by the greatest all-rounder to have played the game of cricket, Sir Garfield Sobers, who made this historic achievement on August 31st 1968. Once described as a 'five in one cricketer' by Donald Bradman himself, Sobers became the first cricketer to smash 6-sixes in a single over in first-class cricket all this at a time when cricket bats nothing but wooden planks.

Alvin Kallicharan, 1975 We witness Alvin Kallicharan's incredible helmetless assault on Dennis Lillee in one of the runoff matches during the 1975 World Cup was a sheet act of bravery and batting at its best. Thankfully, Lady Bird's line of cricket gear includes helmets, cricket pads and gloves to keep you safe as you hit those amazing sixes over the ropes.

Lance Cairns, 1983 In this next video, we watch Lance Cairns one handed sixes "excalibur bats" that were one of a kind clearing nearly 90 metres from the batting crease. Lady Bird's exclusive line of premium English willow cricket bats provide the best batting experience a batsman could ask for -- including those one-handed sixes!

Sachin Tendulkar, 1998 Finally, we witness the incredible batting performance by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who carved out brilliant innings with hits all-around the ground against a world-class spin as well fast-paced Australian bowling attack alike.

Lady Bird Sports brings you the premium quality English Willow bats are handcrafted by the finest craftsmen and built to perform in the most challenging of situations and enable stroke play.
